Belong

She’s drowning in tears, wondering if she belongs.

Lost in a storm, thoughts thundering, telling her you don’t belong.

She’s welcomed with smiles, but are they saying behind her back,

While she’s stuttering and lumbering, she doesn’t belong?

She’s desperate, crying to God night after night,

But in between prayers still muttering, I’ll never belong.

She’s searching for hearts to connect to,

But left in the dust waiting to hear, hungering for, you belong.

Tired of the chase, the daughter falls back into

The security of His truth, surrendering, I belong.
